My life journey has been like a roller coaster ride with multiple twists and turns, ups and downs. At times, it has cruised along at a steady pace while there have been a few occasions of sudden jerks and drastic drops. It started off gradually with my diagnosis. As time passed by, the twists intensified en route my many moves across the country, between suburbs, and finally across the globe. Adjusting to diverse cultures, education patterns, friend circles, and the constraints of my condition was never easy, but the experiences and knowledge gained have been phenomenal.
Recently about 3 years ago (end of 2017) there was a sudden drop, literally 😧, resulting in ICU hospitalisation, a near death experience, and a little more than a years time of recovery. This was a life changing moment, but I was able to hold on to the positive experiences of this horrific accident. The last couple of years have been quite a sturdy ride going along at a comfortable speed.
I am what I am today, thanks to various factors that created a cocoon of protection and inspiration around me. First and foremost has been the constant and highly reliable family support, especially from my parents. My refreshingly unconventional up-bringing and an adventurous unpredictable life style, is the outcome of the towering inspiration of my father, besides the thought provoking family conversations over dinner, my own life experiences, and my introspective nature.
These above-mentioned factors helped foster in me the curiosity to study psychology and to take up counselling as an intuitive choice. I had the privilege of witnessing the growth of my twin sisters from day one and while reading about developmental psychology many topics resonated with me. An online course on ‘social psychology’ during a gap year opened my mind into the world of psychology and aroused existential questions in me like “why do people behave the way they do?” All of these questions, topics, and thoughts germinated in my mind and before I knew it, I had graduated in the summer of 2017 from Christ University Bangalore with a Masters in Psychology (Counselling).
At this juncture, I am trying to find my niche; ,who knows, I may have already found it but I may be oblivious of its presence. Hence, I am using the pandemic-enforced lockdown to hone my interests and skills. Among other things, I am planning on starting a start up business, which will help society in providing wheelchair accessible transportation.
Besides, I have started blogging, more as a rejuvenating exercise to speak my mind and share my thoughts with the world at large. Keeping company are other regular pursuits of mine: extensive reading, family bonding, brushing up on my counselling, and taking up online courses and workshops for gaining knowledge (not gathering certificates).
I would love to hear your thoughts as I am keen to strike a conversation with like-minded souls to explore sunrise possibilities.
Hoping to share another heart-to-heart post in good time.
